Overview
A1 Lebanese Bakery is one of those rare Melbourne eateries that has achieved cult status without ever trying to. Located on Sydney Road in the heart of Brunswick, this family-run bakery has been serving traditional Lebanese street food since the 1990s—and it’s never lost its momentum. From breakfast bites to late-night cravings, A1 hits the spot with fresh, flavour-packed fare and unbeatable value.
The star of the menu is the manoush—a traditional Lebanese flatbread topped with options like za’atar, cheese, sujuk, spinach, and lamb mince, then folded hot off the oven. Made fresh to order, each wrap is warm, satisfying, and perfect for eating on the go. There’s also a rotating selection of sambousek, kebbeh, falafel, house-made dips, and sweets like baklava and maamoul.
The food is simple but full of character, reflecting traditional recipes with consistency and care. Vegetarian and vegan options are easy to find, and you can mix and match to create a budget-friendly, flavourful meal that never disappoints.
There’s limited seating inside and a few tables outside, but most customers are happy to take away. Service is fast, friendly, and efficient—even when there’s a queue (which there often is). Whether you’re grabbing lunch, stocking up on pastries, or discovering Lebanese food for the first time, A1 is as genuine as it gets.
