Overview
BARTIGA is one of the most exciting new additions to the Eastern Suburbs dining scene — a vibrant, genre-defying restaurant that reimagines the classic Australian bistro through a bold Southeast Asian lens. Located at the corner of Short Street and Bay Street, Bartiga stands where the much-loved Café Perons once operated for over four decades, now completely transformed into a stylish, high-energy eatery with a flavour-first philosophy.
Founded by Charlie Kelly, whose family owned Café Perons for 42 years, and head chef Faheem Noor, Bartiga is built on the foundation of friendship, legacy, and a shared love for flavour. The name “Bartiga” — meaning the three of us in Bahasa — is a tribute to the tight-knit team behind it, and the community spirit it aims to nourish.
The menu offers an adventurous take on Modern Australian cuisine, spiced with Southeast Asian twists. Dishes like the Tom Yum bouillabaisse spaghettini, charcoal grilled duck breast with tamarind glaze, and miso hollandaise prawn toast showcase the kitchen’s daring creativity. Familiar favourites are remixed with ingredients like galangal, lemongrass, coconut, and lime, making every dish feel fresh, layered, and vibrant.
The restaurant’s sleek interiors reflect the menu’s dual nature — refined but full of personality, with natural textures, warm lighting, and an open, welcoming vibe. There’s also a well-stocked bar serving inventive Asian-inspired cocktails, crisp wines, and boutique spirits.
Whether it’s a stylish night out, a long lunch with friends, or a date night with edge, BARTIGA is Double Bay’s new go-to for flavour-packed fusion and warm hospitality that feels as fresh as it does familiar.
