Modern day Chelsea is regarded as one of the most influential artistic neighborhoods in New York City with many old warehouses and industrial sites having been transformed into art studios and art spaces. It still retains a very residential feel and has become one of New York Cities most sought after places to live.
One of the contributing factors in Chelsea’s rise has been the creation of the High Line elevated park that runs along an old railway trestle. The park provides an urban green walkway through Chelsea giving some River Views and seating along its 1 and a half miles.
Other notable features in the Chelsea neighbourhood include the Chelsea Markets and the Chelsea Pier. The Chelsea Markets are an entire block comprising of food stalls, restaurants, bakeries and shopping mall. The Chelsea Piers is a sporting complex located along 3 Hudson River Piers and provides a range of activities including ice skating, golf, batting cages and a health center.
